It’s a dream that will not die until I do. Even if that glorious day was to come and I found myself sitting on the sofa in my library, with book-laden shelves towering to 12-foot ceilings, the computer on my lap would still be open to Zillow or Realtor, and I would still be raving about the “perfect house” I discovered to whomever will listen.
Today I happened upon a 100-year-old Creole cottage in the Marigny that’s giving me all the feels. The existing decor certainly influences the bohemian vibes I’m getting, but even empty, this adorable house with all of the odd corners, French doors, random fireplaces with unique mantles, and original hardwood floors feels like a space tailor-made for a creative mind, even a hack like me! The one major downside of this dwelling is the spiral staircase. My knees already hate me, so why push it?
Like pretty much any inhabitable house in the area, this listing far exceeds my price range, but as the market is, it doesn’t seem too terribly overpriced considering its proximity to the French Quarter and, of course, its overall gorgeousness.
