House of the week: Victorian on Zimpel

July 2, 2012 2 Comments

“So near, but yet so far.” It’s a perfect analogy for this week’s house…not to mention my whole housing dilemma. Hundreds of gorgeous homes all around me, yet they are all out of my reach. Sigh. Anyhow, just a skip away down Zimpel, I found this beautiful Victorian for sale […]

House of the week: Victorian on Broadway

June 18, 2012 No Comments

It seems like every time I turn around in this town, I fall in love. Yep, I found another dream house. Located Uptown on Broadway Street, this colorfully painted Victorian is not only an eye-catcher with great “sidewalk appeal,” it’s practically a steal. Over 1,300 square feet of living space, […]

Location, location, location…it is one of the key stipulations when it comes to buying a house. While most of the homes I have posted have been in what I believe are wonderful locales, there are occasions when I wish I could pick the house up and plop it down in […]

House of the week: Victorian side-hall on Carondolet

April 20, 2012 1 Comment

I’ve been feeling a little too extravagant with my house of the week posts lately, so I decided to dial it down a notch this week and look for something more in my price range and something miraculous happened. I fell in love… While ho-humming my way through some seriously […]

House of the week: Victorian on Coliseum Street

March 31, 2012 No Comments

How perfect is this house for me? Let me count the ways! First, it is a classic New Orleans Victorian built back in the early 1900’s. Second, it has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a cute little shed in the back that would make a perfect workshop for John or […]

House of the week: Victorian on Constance Street

January 15, 2012 2 Comments

As of Twelfth Night (January 6th), carnival season has begun and I find myself longing to live closer to the parade route. I dream of having festive parties at a house where guests can easily walk out to St. Charles and enjoy the krewes rolling by and return to a […]

House of the week: Victorian on Canal Street

October 12, 2011 1 Comment

When you are forced into the position of buying something “as is,” it always seems to connote something negative. Like “the plumbing is shot, but the owner is selling the house ‘as is’” or “they’re selling the car ‘as is’ despite the leaky radiator.” I’d like to put a positive […]

Though she was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kim Ranjbar felt New Orleans calling her home as soon as she hit puberty. A graduate of granola U (a.k.a. Sonoma State University) with a BA in English and a concentration in Creative Writing, Kim took her passion for the written word and dragged it over 2000 miles to flourish in the city she loves.

After over seventeen years as a transplant β€” surviving hurricanes, levee failures, oil spills, boil water advisories and hipster invasions β€” Kim hopes to eventually earn the status of local and be welcomed into the fold.

John and I got crafty and for the first time ever, John and I got crafty and for the first time ever, made Mardi Gras flowers out of deco mesh. They turned out pretty well, but then we couldn't figure out how to put them up without putting too many holes in the siding. So, in a flash of ingenuity, we zip tied them together and put them up as one big bunch. Now we have to take them down so they don't blow away in today's storm. #weretrying #mardigras2023 #purplegreengold πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›
