Absolutely unforgettable: The Circle Bar

April 14, 2010 4 Comments

It’s really hard to miss, but a lot of people don’t notice it.  It appears as if it’s ready to collapse, but has unbelievably withstood Katrina, Rita and Gustav and that’s only since I’ve lived here.To Mardi Gras revelers, it might just be forgettable (that tiny club on Lee Circle […]

Artery-hardening goodness at Bruno’s Tavern

March 26, 2010 No Comments

August 28, 2009 No Comments

Remember when you were a kid, enduring the dull pace of yet another day at school, longing for the free days of summer to begin?  I find that as an adult, I don’t have very many things to look forward to.  Sure, I am anxious for a week or two […]

Though she was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kim Ranjbar took her passion for the written word and dragged it over 2000 miles to flourish in the city she loves. For well over a decade, she's been eating, photographing and writing about food (and more!) in New Orleans, her work appearing in local publications such as French Quarter Journal, Where Y'at Magazine, New Orleans Living Magazine, NewOrleans.com and Louisiana Kitchen & Culture.

After over 20 years as a transplant — surviving hurricanes, levee failures, oil spills, boil water advisories and hipster invasions — Kim hopes to eventually earn the status of local and be welcomed into the fold.
