Hogs for the Cause, the annual Spring pork-out founded to raise funds for families battling pediatric cancer, has announced their 2022 lineup! After a banner year in 2021 when they managed to raise nearly $3 million, the festival is excited to return to the UNO Lakefront Arena Festival Grounds again this year on April 1st & 2nd with its most notable lineup to date. Not only that, a very limited number of specially-priced “Early Bird” tickets go on sale to the public on Tuesday, December 7 at 9 a.m. CST on HogsFest.org. Sponsors for the 2022 event include Children’s Hospital New Orleans, Michelob Ultra, Phelps Dunbar and Irpino Avin Hawkins.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be presenting such a robust lineup and are looking forward to another sold-out show!” said Becker Hall, co-founder and chief executive officer of Hogs for the Cause. Headliners for the 2022 event include Shakey Graves, winner of an Americana Music Awards “Best Emerging Artist;” multi-Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers; and hometown heroes, Galactic featuring Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars and former member of The Black Crowes.

If you don’t live in the area or you’ve been hiding in your parent’s basement for the past 15 years, you’ll need to know that Hogs for the Cause is a food festival (which has blossomed into a food and music festival like all good New Orleans festivals do) where over 75 teams compete to offer the best smoky, savory, sweet incarnations of pork possible, resulting in a trough-like cornucopia of piggy-pleasing dishes from pulled pork mac ‘n’ cheese and cracklin’ to bacon boudin sushi and watermelon bacon tostadas. Here’s hoping they invite me to judge again this year.
