GW Fins Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary By Giving Back

Fine dining French Quarter seafood spot GW Fins celebrates its 20th anniversary this April and to commemorate this momentous occasion, owner Gary Wollerman has launched the Fins Wings For Fins’ Kids Foundation. Philanthropic almost since its inception, GW Fins has found yet another way to give back to both the environment and community with the “Fins Wings For Fins’ Kids” initiative. Beginning April 5th 2021, guests are invited to “name their own price” when ordering Fin Wings, a dish that has quickly become one of the restaurant’s most popular appetizers, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit New Orleans’ youth through First Tee.

“Our hope is that once our guests learn about the significant work First Tee has been doing teaching New Orleans area 6-18 year old kids leadership and lifestyle core values, rather than paying the normal $14 for Fins Wings, that they consider generously paying $20 or $25 because they know how impactful these dollars will be on the future of so many local kids,” says Wollerman.

Through golf, First Tee focuses on “reinforcing qualities that make children into concerned citizens and effective leaders.” Using the game, coaches are able to build self confidence, strength and resilience — vital characteristics that will aid in any child’s future. “We’re extremely excited to partner with GW Fins this coming year to help positively impact youth in our community and help us teach our First Tee Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits to significantly more young people, ages 5-18, across greater New Orleans,” states Chip Patterson, Executive Director, First Tee of the Greater New Orleans area.

GW Fins has long been a proponent of seafood sustainability, particularly through utilization. Fins Wings, a dish created by Executive Chef Michael Nelson, has overwhelmingly encouraged diners to enjoy a part of the fish typically discarded and seemed the natural choice to not only support our city’s youth, but to emphasize GW Fins’ ongoing mission for sustainability in the Gulf.

GW Fins is open for dinner and curbside pick-up seven nights a week beginning at 5pm. For more information please visit www.gwfins.com or call 504.581.3467.
